The term crisis means many different things to different people. Services for a crisis can range from addressing the needs of the homeless, family conflicts, emotional difficulties and suicide attempts to large scale disaster response. Our counselors are available 24 hours a day to listen and help.
No one should have to feel completely alone when facing a problem or crisis. If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, are concerned about a loved one, need referrals, or just need someone to listen, hotline specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to provide a non-judgmental listening ear and support for any problem you may be facing. Hotline Specialists can even help make connections with mobile mental health services and urgent care appointments.
Who should call?
Anyone, of any age, can call the Hotline at anytime. Hotline receives calls about a variety of concerns including depression, sadness, loneliness, thoughts of suicide, separation or divorce, abuse, relationship problems, conflicts with friends or family members, financial, legal, or employment problems, gay and lesbian issues, and grief and bereavement. Hotline services are also available in over 150 languages and all lines are TTY compatible.
Does it cost anything?
Hotline services are provided free of charge. Your telephone provider’s long-distance rates may apply if you are calling one of our local numbers from out of the area. If you are calling from a cell phone, air time and other cell phone charges may apply.
What number do I call to speak with someone?
You can dial 2-1-1 to speak with a Hotline Specialist. 2-1-1 is available from most land-line and cell phone providers. If you are not able to dial 2-1-1, you can dial our local number, 301-864-7161. You can also dial the statewide crisis hotline at 1-800-422-0009.

Family Violence Intervention Clinic (FAMVIC)
FAMVIC offers services that are designed to assess, provide treatment and ultimately end abuse in intimate relationships. We offer intensive individual and group therapy to both victims and abusers, in English and Spanish. Please see FAMVIC programs below:
SURVIVOR’S PROGRAM
A 12-week program for those who have been exposed to Domestic Violence. It is a group that focuses on healthy relationships, cycle of violence, safety planning and self-esteem. Available in English. Male and Female Groups.
ABUSER INTERVENTION PROGRAM (AIP)
A 26-week program serving persons with anger and/or domestic violence issues. Participants can be self -referred or court mandated to participate as the result of perpetrating an assault or as a preventative act to avoid violence. The curriculum examines several areas related to learning how to interact in a non-violent and non-confrontational manner. Fees are based on a sliding scale according to participants’ income. Available in English and Spanish (Disponible en Español). Male and Female groups.
ANGER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
A 12-week program offered to individuals who have had conflict with someone other than an intimate partner. Participants gain understanding of anger cues, triggers and how to manage anger in a non-violent manner. Fees are based on a sliding scale according to participants’ income.

Community Crisis Services, Inc. Coordinates shelter placements to Prince George’s County shelters. Shelters are available to men, women & children. Our shelter diversion program helps individuals and families identify other resources to help them stay in their current living situation before they become homeless.
Since its inception in 1970, the non-profit Community Crisis Services, Inc. has become a one-stop calling center for information and compassionate assistance for those in crisis. Calling the Hotline is often the first step an individual makes to access the mental health services and social service organizations within the community. We are here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for anyone facing crisis and personal turmoil. Our vision is to provide comprehensive crisis services that are efficient, accessible, responsive, and fully integrated into the community.
Shelter Placement
Community Crisis Services, Inc. coordinates all shelter placements to Prince George’s County shelters. Shelter placements are available to men, women and children. Individuals seeking shelter should call 1-888-731-0999 to apply for shelter. To qualify for shelter, the following criteria must be met:
• Be at least 18 years of age or with a parent/guardian at least 18 years of age;
• Be homeless or within seven (7) days of becoming homeless; and
• Not seeking shelter due to Domestic Violence. If you are seeking shelter for Domestic Violence, please call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 301-731-1203.
Shelter Diversion
The Shelter Diversion program serves Prince George’s County residents who are in danger of becoming homeless. The full-time case manager provides callers with one-on-one counseling and case management. If placement to the shelter becomes necessary, the case manager can help to facilitate the process. Shelter Diversion services include traveler’s aid resources, case management, assistance with entitlements, crisis planning and counseling. Community Crisis Services, Inc. serves as the intake point for reports of child abuse and neglect for Prince George’s County, Maryland. We also accept reports of adult abuse and neglect on evenings, weekends and holidays. If you suspect child abuse or neglect, please call and speak with an intake worker. All calls reporting abuse or neglect are kept confidential in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations.
